Boxrucker, Louis R. (November 10, 1917 - May 28, 2009)

Louis R. Boxrucker, age 91, of Dorchester, died Thursday, May 28, 2009 at Medford Memorial Hospital.

Louis was born on November 10, 1917 in the Township of Little Black in Taylor County, the son of John and Mary (Pueschner) Boxrucker.

Louis went to school at Liberty grade school in Little Black, and attended one year at St. Louis Parochial School in Dorchester In 1940 he joined the U.S. Navy for what Louis called a six year "hitch". He was assigned to a Navy Air Patrol Squadron stationed in Bermuda but traveled to many parts of the world during his military service. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1946 as a Chief Petty Officer. He returned to his parents farm to help them and later spent 2 years in North Dakota as a welder.

On November 24, 1948 Louis was united in holy matrimony to Hilda Wilke at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford.

In 1950, Louis bought the farm from his parents and continued to farm for 30 years. Louis enjoyed fishing, traveling in the US and Canada and playing cards. Louis was in many ways self taught because of his love of books and reading. He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester, the Boxrucker-Berry American Legion Post 519 of Stetsonville and was a former officer of the Catholic Family Insurance Co.

Louis is lovingly survived by his wife Hilda of Dorchester; children Kathleen Rau of Phillips, Karen Boxrucker of Orlando, FL., Diane (Bill) Freiboth of Eau Claire, Mary (Blaine) Kuchmichel of Wausau; a brother Arthur (Celine) Boxrucker of Prairie Du Chien; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

He is predeceased by his parents; a son Thomas; a sister Helen Langteau; and his twin brother Lawrence Boxrucker.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 1, 2009 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester, Wis. Rev. Benjamin Franklin will preside. Visitation will be held from 4-8:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 31, 2009 at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Dorchester and again on Monday at the church in Dorchester from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday May 31, 2009 at the funeral home in Dorchester, Wis. Interment will be at Dorchester Memorial Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Boxrucker-Berry American Legion Post 519 of Stetsonville.
