Drake, Trevalyn #2 (14 JUN 1945)

Miss Trevalyn Drake, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Drake, and Leon Nelson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Nelson exchanged wedding vows at the Methodist church here at 2 o’clock last Thursday afternoon, with the Rev. Myron E. Taylor officiating.

Miss Loretta Missling served as the bride’s maid of honor and Miss Mavis Fohrman as bridesmaid, while James Hallowell served as the best man and John Kern Jr. of Colby as groomsman.

Baskets of garden flowers and ferns formed a background, before which the simple service was read. During the ceremony, Mrs. Calvin Prior sang "Oh Promise Me" and "Because." The wedding marches were played by Miss LaVonne Smith.

A three-strand pearl necklace, the groom’s gift to his bride, accented the sweetheart neckline of the satin bridal gown. The long train was decorated with lace inserts. The finger-tip veil of illusion was attached to a beaded crown with rhinestones. The bride carried a bouquet of pink and white roses.

Miss Missling and Miss Fohrman wore blue and pink respectively, their gowns being satin with net overskirts, each wore a strand of pearls, a gift from the bride, and each carried arm bouquets of pink and white carnations.

A supper was served to 40 immediate relatives and friends. The three-layer cake, was made by the bride’s aunt, Mrs. John Frasier of Bayfield, was appropriately topped with a miniature bride and groom.

After a wedding dance at Colby in the evening, Mr. and Mrs. Nelson left on a wedding trip to Milwaukee, Wisconsin Dells and Chicago. They will be at home to friends after July 4, on a farm north of Loyal.

The bride is a graduate of Loyal high school, class of 1945, and the groom graduated from there in 1934.

Guests at the wedding included Mr. and Mrs. John Frasier and grandson of Bayfield, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Braun and family of Owen, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Oestreich and family of Arpin, Mr. and Mrs. Helmuth Schultz of Marshfield, and Mr. and Mrs. Rueben Shields and family and Miss Helen Sparks of Pittsville.

The Loyal Tribune joins their many friends in wishing them a long and happy journey through life.
