Ebert, Robert B. (1933? - 21 JUN 1953)

Robert B. Ebert, 20, route 3, Neillsville (Clark Co., Wis.), drowned at Hatfield Sunday when he toppled from a rock into the Black River.

Ebert and three companions, Robert Finder, Neillsville, Shirley Gruper, Merrillan, and Carol Bowen, Black river Falls, were swimming in "Pike Hole" located between the power dam and the bridge spanning Black River south of the dam.

Authorities said he apparently "blacked out" while standing on a rock and fell into the water at 11 a.m.

The body was recovered by Jackson County officials at 12:15 p.m. and taken to the Georgas Funeral Home in Neillsville.
