Schunk, Yvonne A. (AUG 1952)

A large and beautiful wedding at St. Mary’s Czestochowa Church (Junction, Clark Co., Wis.), Raymond Slowiak took as his bride Miss Yvonne Alice Schunk. The double ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. J. J. Kamla, before an altar decorated with gladioli.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Schunk, Sr. of Route 1, Stanley. The groom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Peter Slowiak, Route 2, Stanley.

The bride was lovely in a gown of imported white organdy, which featured an embroidered organdy fitted bodice and sleeves of embroidered organdy fashioned with points over the hands. Nylon cuching edged the bottoms of the sleeves and the neckline of the nylon yoke. The skirt, which had inserted panels of the embroidered organdy, fell in a long train. She wore a veil of imported silk illusion, hand rolled, and with a pearl beaded tiara. She carried white orchids with stephanotis and a prayer book covered with lace over white satin.

Mrs. Clifford Ebben of Thorp was Miss Schunk’s choice as matron of honor. For bridesmaids she chose Miss Dorothy Slowiak, sister of the groom, and Miss Joan Drozd, friends of the bride. All wore identical gowns of shrimp colored nylon net over taffeta, styled with fitted bodices trimmed with satin banding and stole collars and with satin banding on the full, double net skirts. They wore matching hats and carried colonial bouquets of white chrysanthemums.

Christine Lizewski of Chicago, niece of the groom, was flower girl. Her dress was of white net over taffeta, made with a fitted bodice with shirred bertha and a full hoop skirt. She wore a matching headdress and gauntlets and carried a basket of seasonal flowers.

Raymond Slowiak chose Jervis Cooney, Stanley, cousin of the bride, for his best man. His attendant was Lawrence Staron of Chicago. The ushers were George Schunk, Jr., brother of the bride, and Gerald Olichfeir, nephews of the groom.

The nuptial music was played by Helen Slowiak, a sister of the groom.

The bride’s mother watched her daughter’s wedding wearing a gown of navy blue lace. She wore a corsage of white chrysanthemums. Mrs. Slowiak wore a light rose suit with white accessories and wore a corsage of white chrysanthemums.

Following the ceremony, a dinner was served to 65 guests. The decorated table was centered by a beautiful wedding cake. A reception in the church parlors from 2:30 to 5:30 in the afternoon was attended by about 200 guests.

Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Slowiak will enjoy a five day wedding trip in northern Wisconsin. After their return they will make their home on Route 3, Stanley. The bride attended Stanley High School and is employed as linotype operator in the office of the Stanley Republican. The groom also attended Stanley High School and is employed as a trucker.
