Klieforth named Abby Lions Student of the Quarter

Abbotsford High School senior Bailey Klieforth has been named the Abbotsford Lions Club Student of the Quarter for the fourth quarter of the academic year.

Her class schedule includes personal finance, psychology, AP U.S. history, chemistry, advance communication and drama and high school band.

Following graduation Klieforth plans to attend UW-Marshfield/Wood County and UW-Stevens Point to pursue a bachelor’s degree in physical education and coaching. She hopes to live near Abbotsford after her college days are over.

Biology teacher Shelly Carpenter nominated Klieforth for the Student of the Quarter award.

"I recommend Bailey for this award due to several positive character attributes," Carpenter said. "She is a motivated student, athlete and peer role model. She has accomplished several goals during her high school career, including being an academic scholar each semester and a very agile athlete. Bailey is also socially aware of the needs and expectations of her community at school and outside of school. She has a lot to offer the community."

Bailey is a well-rounded student, balancing academics and co-curricular activities. During her four years at Abbotsford High School she has participated in FBLA, FFA, FCCLA, National Honor Society, Student Senate, band, jazz band, basketball and softball.

Her community service resumé includes working at various blood drives and community breakfasts. Her work experience includes McDonald’s, Pamida and her father’s business, Cliff’s Service.

Bailey thinks one of the most outstanding aspects of the community is its family-like atmosphere.

"Nearly everyone in the community is very generous and kind," she said. "People aren’t afraid to go out of their way to help a neighbor. I love this aspect of the community. This is one of the main reasons I would like to raise a family here someday."

Bailey was asked to confront a world problem and explain how she would solve it. "If I could solve one major world problem it would be ending discrimination," she said. "Many people won’t admit it, but we still have huge discrimination issues in our world today. I believe by solving this issue we could accomplish so many more things as a unified human race."

Bailey is the daughter of Bruce and Barb Klieforth, Abbotsford, Wis.
