Vobora, James C. (27 Sept. 1921 - 13 June 1996)

James C. Vobora, 74, of 10614 Highway 13 South died at 5:25 a.m. June 13, 1996, at St. Joseph’s Hospital Hospice Care Unit where he had been admitted on June 1, 1996.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. Robert A. Schaller, pastor, will officiate and the Rev. Peter J. Leketas will be the concelebrant.

Helen Brinkmann will be the organist for vocalists John F. Binder, Francis Plank and James W. Eckes.

Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. His five grandsons, John Hilgart, Trent Miner, Joshua and Jacob Hansen and Adam Vobora, and his nephew, John Gross, will be the pallbearers.

Visitation will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Rembs/Kundinger Chapel and again until service time on Monday. A Sacred Heart Parish Rosary Service, combined with the Knights of Columbus Rosary Service, will be at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral chapel.

Mr. Vobora was born Sept. 27, 1921, in the town of Lynn in Clark County, to Tony and Mary (Marek) Voboro.

They continued to farm until retiring in 1988 and continued to reside in the town of Cameron.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church; an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus, John Eisen Council No. 1799, and a member of the former St. Hubert’s Society. He was a former supervisor for the town of Cameron; and a former member of the town of Cameron Volunteer Fire Department, the Township Zoning Board, and the Board of Directors of the Wood County Farm Bureau. He was active as a project leader in the MarSac 4-H Club.

Mr. Vobora is survived by his wife, Bernice Vobora of the town of Cameron; four daughters, Marlys (Eugene) Hilgart of Marshfield; Kathleen (Donald) Hansen of Marshfield, Patricia (Andrew) Downing of Milwaukee, and Janalee (Steven) Wood of Marshfield; three sons, Robert (Annette) Vobora of Decorah, Iowa, Charles (Susan) Vobora of Marshfield, and Mark (Dennis) Vobora of Auburndale; 15 grandchildren, John and Stephanie Hilgart, Joshua, Rachel, Jacob and Sarah Hansen, Adam Vobora, Trent (Kim) Miner, Rebecca and Katrina Vobora, Jordan Downing, Nicholas and Samantha Wood and Aaron and Megan Vobora; two great-grandchildren, Cody and Amy Miner; two brothers, Anton (Velma) Vobora of Granton and George (Lu) Vobora of Medford, Ore.; five sisters, Marie Gross of Marshfield, Agnes (Leonard) Gross of Hawley, Minn., Angela…..
