Mundt, William “Billy” (3 May 1869 – 30 APR 1916)

Billy Mundt is dead. He passed away early Sunday morning after an illness of several months’ duration. Billy had been a resident of Neillsville off and on ever since he was 15 years old. He came to this city at that age and learned the shoe-making trade with Mat Kappellan and worked here for many years and during all the years of his residence here Billy made friends right and left who remained true to him at all times. A better hearted man than Billy Mundt never lived and his word became accepted as good as his bond for he never went back on his word or his friends. As a result he was everybody’s friend and his long illness and death was a matter of really sincere regret to all.

William Mundt was born to Mr. and Mrs. Carl Mundt and at the time of his death was 46 years, 11 months and 27 days of age. He spent his childhood in Chili, coming here when a mere boy and spent practically the balance of his life here. He was one of the charter members of the Moose Lodge and his funeral on Tuesday afternoon was conducted by the Moose and attended by them in a body. The funeral was held at Chili and interment was made in the cemetery there.
