Anderson, Richard #2 (23 AUG 1884 - 6 FEB 1951)

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at two o’clock at the Longwood Lutheran Church, Longwood, for Richard J. Anderson, who died suddenly Tuesday, Feb. 6th, 1951, of a heart attack. The Rev. T. J. Nelson officiated at the final rites with burial being made in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were Louis Bulgrin, Celand Melbinger, Russell Weaver, John Marking, John Erickmoen and Jack Olds.

Mr. Anderson’s sudden death is believed to have been brought on by over exertion, as he had spent the day shoveling snow at the Badger Shooters Supply office where he was caretaker. He had been a resident of Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) for the past 35 years, the last 20 of which he had served as grounds keeper at the Meadowview County Club. He took extreme pride in his work and always had the course in par-excellent condition.

The deceased was born on Aug. 23, 1884 at Estelline, S.D., and at the time of his death was 66 years, 5 months and 14 days of age. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Rasmus Anderson and as a child of seven years of age moved with his family to DeSota, Wis., where he grew to manhood. In 1910 he and Nora Thompson were united in marriage at DeSota. Two children were born to this union to this union, Harry at Mount Horeb, Wis. and Mrs. Richard (Edna) Soderberg of Madison. In 1916 the family moved to Owen where he has since resided.

In addition to his family his sudden death is mourned by three sisters, Mrs. George (Luella) Dorr, Belmond, Iowa; Mrs. Herman (Nora) Johnson, Belmond, Iowa, and Mrs. Jacob (Linnie) Kavanbek, Minneola, Minn.; and four brothers, Clarence, Colby, Wis.; Carroll, Houston, Texas, and Alden and Roy of Owen. One sister preceded him in death.

E. Anderson, Colby, Wis.
