Hoffman, Ellen (17 Feb. 1899 - 23 June 1988)

Spencer, Wis. - Ellen Hoffman, 89, of the Marshfield Living Center, formerly of Unity, Wisconsin, died at 12:50 p.m. Thursday at St. Joseph’s Hospital Hospice Care Unit, Marshfield, where she had been admitted June 14.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Christ the King Catholic Church in Spencer. The Rev. Andrew Bofenkamp will officiate. Burial will be in West Spencer Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Heinz Beyer, Ray LaBarge, Ed and Joe Brill, Arnold Steinwand and Lester Ewert.

Visitation will be at the Rux Funeral Home, Spencer, after 4 p.m. today. A Bible vigil will be at 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

She was born Feb. 17, 1899 in Canada to James and Katrine Morrison. She attended Oconto Schools.

She was married to Albert Hoffman Feb. 11, 1930, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Oconto. He died April 17, 1977.

They farmed in the town of Unity from 1930 to 1977, when they moved, into Spencer where she lived until she entered the nursing home in 1987.

She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, and the Parish Council of Catholic Women.

She is survived by one son, James, of Unity; two daughters, Dorothy Hoffman, and Mrs. Fred (Winifred) Kerksheck, both of Spencer; one sister, Mrs. Mary Eckberg of Green Bay; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents, one sister and two grandchildren.
