Dr. G. G. Shields Freed of Manslaugher Charge

Dr. G. G. Shields was found not guilty of a manslaughter charge, Saturday morning. A jury of 12 men, after deliberating a little more than an hour, brought a not guilty verdict to Judge Gerald J. Boileau in circuit court at Wausau.

Dr. Shields was charged with manslaughter in the death of Floradina Willman, nine-year-old town of Spencer girl, on Sept. 26, 1941.

The child, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Willman, town of Spencer, was instantly killed at about 4:30 o’clock in the afternoon while on her way home from school. She was walking along Highway 13, about two miles southeast of the village of Spencer with a group of school children at the time of this fatal accident, when she apparently did not see the approaching car and ran directly in its path as she was crossing the highway to pick some apples.
