Frane, Louis W. (9 Jan. 1880 - 5 Sept. 1942)

Funeral services for Louis W. Frane, 62, of Colby, Wisconsin were held Wednesday morning in St. Mary’s Catholic church and burial was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery.

Mr. Frane who is well known in this community had been ill about a week and was having medical treatment at St. Joseph’s hospital, Marshfield where death occurred of a heart attack unexpectedly, Saturday night at 9:20.

Louis Frane was born Jan. 9, 1880 in Fond du Lac county and moved with his parents to a farm in the town of Unity, Wis. In 1908 he came to Colby and was engaged in various business enterprises, last of which was the Star Bottling Works, which he established and managed for 18 years.

He is survived by his widow, the former Laura Philippi, of Colby, and seven children: Margaret, Medford; Virgil, Colby; Kathleen and Mary of Chicago; Tech. Sgt. John Frane of Camp Gruber, Okla.; and Betty Jean and David at home; one brother, Victor Frane, Colby; two sisters, Mrs. C. J. Kraus and Mrs. William Ruesch, Colby; three grand children and his step-mother, Mrs. Emma Frane of Forest Lake, Minn.
