Venzke, Janet (Marriage - 22 Aug. 1942)

Bethlehem Lutheran church at Milan was the scene of a late summer wedding when Miss Janet Venzke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Venzke, Town of Holton, became the bride of Edmund Bahr, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bahr, Town of Johnson. The Rev. E. Malueg read the service at 2 o’clock, Saturday afternoon, Aug. 22.

The bride wore a gown of white ninon and lace fashioned with a fitted bodice and very full skirt. Her tulle veil was finger tip length and her bouquet was made of gladioli, roses and sweet peas.

Two sisters of the bride in frocks of ninon made alike were her attendants, Miss Irene Venzke, from Van Nuys, Calif., maid of honor, wore pink and Miss Lillian Venzke, of Park Ridge, Ill., the bridesmaid, wore blue. They carried colonial bouquets of mixed flowers.

Charles Hrlicka, Town of Johnson, was the best man and George Krueger, Jr., Wausau, also was the groom’s attendant.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents at which there were almost 100 guests. For the occasion white, pink and blue streamers with white wedding bells and cut garden flowers decorated the house.

In the evening a wedding dance was held at the Trianon Gardens.

Mr. and Mrs. Bahr are at home to their friends on his farm in the Town of Johnson.

Among the guests from away who attended the wedding were:

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lippert, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Thomas, Mrs. Wenzel Zahorka, Milwaukee; Mrs. Louis Johnson, Wauwatosa, Mrs. Amelia Harry, Summit Lake; Mr. and Mrs. George Blank and George Krueger, Jr., Wausau; Miss Rose Maas, Appleton; Miss Irene Venzke, Van Nuys, Calif.; Miss Lillian Venzke, Park Ridge, Ill.
