Neillsville

A few from here attended teachers' examinations at Humbird last Friday and Saturday.

Strangers are quite numerous on our streets these days, in consequence of the spring session of court.

Dr. Lacey, who is on the sick list, is slowly recovering. We miss Doc. especially now, when the season of sickness is on.

J. C. Marsh of Spokeville and Geo. J. Smith of this place, were the only ones of the seven delegates elected, who attended the convention at Hurley.

A report comes to us from reliable sources, that our furniture factory will start soon. It is said to have been leased for twenty years and will begin operations at once.

The case of James Lowe, charge with assault with intent to kill, is now being tried. District Attorney S. M. Marsh for the state, and R. J. McBride, Sr., and J. R. Sturdevant for the defendant. The plea of insanity was put forward by the defense and the expert testimony called in seemed to be nearly equally divided in opinion. The case has been on since last Wednesday, and not gone to the jury yet, altho' the end is near.
