Johnson, Gunhild (14 March 1869 - 27 May 1951)

Mrs. Johnson, nee Gunhild Monsos, was born March 14, 1869, in Norway. She came to the America at the age of 16 and settled in Black River Falls. She was married there to Peter C. Johnson on March 4, 1889. For a few years they lived at Black River Falls and later they moved to Longwood and then to a farm about four miles northeast of Greenwood.

On March 4, 1939, she and her husband celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Mr. Johnson died March 9, 1940.

Funeral services for Mr. P. C. Johnson, 82, of Greenwood have been tentatively set for this afternoon (Thursday) at 1:30 o’clock from the Schiller Funeral Home and for 2 o’clock from the United Lutheran Church. She died on Sunday at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Herbert Schendel, near Greenwood. Burial will take place in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Morris (Julia) Anderson of Stevens Point, Mrs. Elmer (Mabel) Johnson of Greenwood, and Mrs. George (Nola) Kuehl of Madison and a son, Paul, who lives on the family farm at Greenwood.

A daughter preceded her in death.
