Schmidt, Albertina (27 Oct. 1848 - 15 Apr. 1941)

Funeral services for Mrs. Carl Schmidt, 93, who died on Tuesday in Milwaukee will be held here in Christ Evangelical Lutheran church at 1:30, Friday afternoon. The remains will be brought here from Milwaukee about noon Friday and will lie in state in the church until the hour of the funeral services.

Mrs. Albertina Schmidt was born in Pomerania, Germany, Oct. 27, 1848. She was united in marriage there to Carl Griesbach. Together they came to America about 1868 and lived in Milwaukee for ten years and then came to their farm in the Town of Holton. To them were born four daughters and one son.

In the fall of 1916 Mr. Griesbach died. Two daughters and a son also preceded her in death.

On November 12, 1922 she was married to Carl W. Schmidt of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They made their home in Abbotsford until four years ago when they moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The past two years of Mrs. Schmidt’s life were spent there in a nursing home where she died on a Tuesday, following two strokes suffered the previous Thursday.

Mrs. Schmidt was a member of the Lutheran church in the Town of Holton and was one of the organizers and a charter member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran church.

She is survived by her husband, C. W. Schmidt, two daughters, Mrs. John Gardner, Ashland, and Mrs. Mildred Kelty, Seattle, Wash. There are five step-daughters, two stepsons, four grandchildren and two great grand children.

Funeral services for Mrs. Carl Schmidt who died last Tuesday in Milwaukee were held here Friday afternoon at 1:30 in Christ Evangelical Lutheran church of which the deceased was a charter member. The Rev. J. Brandt officiated at the rites.

During the service a quartette composed of Mrs. John Brandt, Mrs. Walter Kuenzi, Mrs. Clarence Gosse and Miss Elfrieda Schueler sang the hymns "Come Ye Disconsolate" and "Oh, How Blessed Are Ye Whose Toils Are Ended."

Internment was made in the Holton cemetery.

The pallbearers were Gust Hintz, William Hintz, Ed Jacobi, Henry Jacobi, Henry Parge and Frank Schultz.

Among those from away who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. August Schmidt, Mrs. Gust Goke, Mrs. Herman Barkow, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Edward Hintz and Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Hintz, Marshfield.
