Deak, Barbara (11 AUG 1944)

Word has been received here of the marriage in the protestant chapel at Camp LeJeune, N. C., of S/Sgt. Keith V. Colby, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Colby, of Loyal and Pfc. Barbara Deak, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William S. Deak of Reading, Pa. Both are members of the U. S. Marine corps, and the wedding has added interest in that the bride is a replacement for her husband prior to his being reassigned to another post.

Chaplain Ray Hotchkiss, navy lieutenant, officiated at the ceremony, which took place on Aug. 11. The chapel was arranged with candles, white flowers and greens, and music was furnished by the chapel organist.

Pvt. Lucille Long of Chicago was the bridesmaid, and Sgt. Maj. Ernest Ray of New York City was the best man.

The bride was given in marriage by her father and wore her white uniform. She carried a white bible, topped with an orchid. Her mother was attired in a pastel blue tailored dress with matching accessories and a corsage of orchids.

After the ceremony, a reception was held at the Staff NCO club.

The young couple spent a brief honeymoon in White Lake, N. C., returning to Camp LeJeune, where they are both stationed.

The bride is a graduate of Wyomissing (Pa.) and attended Virginia Intermont college, prior to enlisting in the marines. She has been at Camp LeJeune since November, 1943.

Sergeant Colby enlisted in the marines prior to the Jap attack on Pearl Harbor. He recently returned to this country, after spending 23 months in the South Pacific.

The Tribune extends to the young couple its wishes for happiness.
