A very pretty wedding was solemnized at St. Mary’s Czestochowa Church, Stanley, Wis., when Miss Leona Nowak, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leon Nowak of the Town of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), became the bride of Alvin Volk, son of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Volk of Stanley, in a double ring ceremony performed by Father Kamla at 10 o’clock Saturday morning, June 24th, 1950.

The church was decorated with roses and peonies.

The bride was attired in a white satin gown with long train, fingertip veil crowned with orange blossoms, long sleeves and lace trimmed neckline. For Jewelry she wore a crystal necklace with matching earrings, a gift of the groom, and carried a bouquet of white roses and stephanotis with ribbon streamers and rosary.

The groom wore the conventional dark trousers and white jacket.

Maid of honor, Carol Jean Volk, sister of the groom, was dressed in full skirted pink nylon marquisette, with eyelet organdy and square scalloped neckline with matching wrist length gloves. Her jewelry was a rhinestone necklace, a gift from the bride. She carried blue and white carnations with blue ribbon streamers.

The bridesmaids, Beatrice Volk, Virginia Syryczuk and Adeline Nieman all were dressed in full skirted blue nylon marquisette with eyelet organdy, square scalloped neckline and matching wrist length gloves. They also wore a rhinestone necklace, a gift from the bride.

The bride was given in marriage by her father.

The best man, Johnny Syryczuk, and the gentleman attendants, Julius Slowiak and Mr. Ustanowski also wore the dark trousers and white jackets. Stanley Cukla and Donald Volk acted as ushers.

Flower girl, Elaine Slowiak, cousin of the bride, was dressed in full skirted pink nylon marquisette with eylet organdy and carried blue and white carnations with blue ribbon streamers.

Music at the church was by St. Mary’s choir.

Diner was served at noon to about 100 guests at the Stanley Auditorium. Reception at 6 p.m. for about 400 guests. The tables were decorated with roses and peonies.

The wedding dance was held in the Stanley auditorium and music was furnished by Mike and his Nightingales.

After the dance the newlyweds left for a week’s honeymoon trip throughout the state.

The young couple will be home at 1906 So. 88th St., West Allis, Wis., after July 15th..

The bride attended the Thorp High School and in the past has been employed in Chicago.

The groom attended Stanley High School and Milwaukee Barber College, and is a barber at 3803 N. National Ave., West Allis.

The bride’s mother wore navy blue dress and accessories and the groom’s mother wore a blue print dress with black accessories. Both wore corsages of pink and white carnations.

Grandmothers wore black dresses and corsages of white carnations.

After the ceremony the bride place a bouquet of white roses at the foot of the Blessed Virgin Mary altar.

Cichocke and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Nowak, of Green Bay; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Volk and daughter of Rochester, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Adam Michur and daughter Diane of Withee; Mr. and Mrs. Jack Borowick and family of Thorp; Mr. and Mrs. Jack Heiting of Jump River; Mr. and Mrs. Math Mohr and family of Eau Claire; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wegener of Beaver Dam and Mr. and Mrs. Emil Samplowski, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Samplowski, Jr.
