King, Velda (1923 - 12 February 1971)

Funeral services for Mrs. Elliot (Velda) King, 47, former area resident who died at her home in Beaver Dam on February 12, were held on Tuesday, February 16, at 2 p.m. from the Briese Funeral Home there. The Rev. William Balz, pastor of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, officiated and interment was in Highland Memory Gardens at Beaver Dam.

Mrs. King, the daughter of Alfred and Lena Lipkie Schnabel, was born in 1923 in the Town of Grant, where she received her education. Her marriage to Elliot King took place August 2, 1946, in Neillsville. The Kings lived in the Town of Grant until 1959 when they moved to Beaver Dam. She worked at a hospital there until the time of her death. Mrs. King, who had been in ill health for the past three years, was a member of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a son, James, at home; two sisters, Mrs. Lillian Wegner of Alma Center and Mrs. Ilene Scharf of Neillsville; and seven brothers, Clarence Schnabel of Chili, Herbert Schnabel of Granton, Leon, Russell, and Adelbert Schnabel of Neillsville, Harold Schnabel of Aberdeen, S. D., and Verlyn Schnabel of Marshfield.

Pallbearers were: Frank Mathews, Howard Schwender, Ralph Zubke, Robert Mathews, Ned King, and Harold Buchholz.

Those attending the beaver Dam services from out of town included Mr. and Mrs. Verlyn Schnabel of Marshfield, Mrs. Lillian Wegner of Alma Center, Herbert Schnabel of Granton, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Lindgren of Withee, Mr. and Mrs. Ned King and family of Racine, and Mr. and Mrs. Leon Schnabel and Donald, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Schnabel, Joan and Danny, Mrs. Ilene Scharf, Mr. and Mrs. Adelbert Schnabel and family, Mrs. Albert Miller, Mrs. Robert Bruss, and Mrs. E. A. Georgas, all of Neillsville.
