Bauer, John (24 AUG 1876 - 8 MAY 1944)

John Bauer, 67, died at his home in the village early Monday morning, May 8, after an illness of more than 10 months.

Mr. Bauer was born Aug. 24, 1876, in Calumet county and came to Clark county with his parents when he was five years old. He lived on a farm near Spokeville until his marriage, on Jan. 26, 1904, to the former Mathilda Schuld. Following their marriage they moved into the village of Loyal, where they have since resided.

Funeral services were held Thursday morning at St. Anthony’s Catholic church, with the Rev. Aloys Zinthefer officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. (The large attendance at the funeral testified to the many friends Mr. Bauer had made while a resident of this vicinity.)

The six men who served as pallbearers were John Elsinger, John Geiger, John Bannach, Joe Davel, Henry Vogel and Mike Bauer.

He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Harold (Josephine) Zimmerman of Janesville, Mrs. Hilton (Aurelia) Kurth of Loyal and Mrs. Thoman (Genevieve) LaVerdure of Chilton; one son John of Milwaukee; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Frank Klimmer of Loyal, and Mrs. Waldo Young and Mrs. Carrie Schuld of the state of Oregon; four brothers, Frank of Loyal, William of Robinsdale, Minn., Joseph of Alabama and Tony of Pennsylvania. Two sons and one brother preceded him in death.

Among those from away who attended the funeral were Mrs. Thomas LaVerdure of Chilton, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Zimmerman of Janesville, John Bauer, Mrs. Verna Lautenbach, Miss Josephine Schuld and Miss Marie Gall of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. William Bauer of Robinsdale, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. William Hagen and Mrs. George Hammond of West Allis, Edwin Bauer of Bakerville, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Klimmer of Marshfield and Mr. and Mrs. George Frey of Neillsville.

The Tribune extends to the bereaved its sympathy in the loss of a loved one.
