Haslow, Charles (30 Jan. 1873 - 10 Mar. 1954)

Charles Haslow, 81, a livestock dealer, director of the Spencer State Bank and well known citizen of this community for many years passed away at 5:35 P.M. Wednesday March 10 at his home here. He had been ill since January 15.

The body reposed at the Swarthout Funeral Home from Friday until Saturday noon when it was taken to Trinity Lutheran Church, of which he was a member. Funeral services were held there at 2 P.M. Saturday with the Rev. Randolph Mueller officiating. Burial was made in the West Spencer cemetery.

The church choir sang "I Am But a Stranger Here" and "Nearer My God to Thee" accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Arnold Bruesewitz.

Pallbearers were Walter Facklam, Dern Larson, Albert Haslow, Paul Haslow, Vernald Haslow, and Harold Haslow.

Honorary pallbearers were Ed Klein, Herman Seefeldt, Jonas Ayer, Arthur Boock, Ed Thuss, Ray Tack, James Griffith, Fred Cox, Henry Mertens, Claude Bane, W.R. Schultz, and H. Christenson.

Flowers were in charge of Mrs. Walter Facklam, Mrs. Edwin Haslow, Mrs. Norbert Boock, Mrs. Harry Hermanson, Mrs. Tillie Marten and Mrs. Arthur Boock.

Out of town persons her to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Gust Haslow, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Mr. Haslow was born January 30, 1873, at Mayville and came to Clark County as a youth with his parents, settling in the Town of Sherman. He went back to Mayville and worked on a farm until he was 22, when he bought a farm here.

On December 22, 1896, he was married to Anna Raabe at Spencer. They observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1946.

Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Mrs. John (Linda) Karau, a son, Norman Haslow, both of Spencer; a sister, Mrs. William (Ida) Kuse, Loyal; two brothers, Gust and Robert, Haslow, Loyal; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A daughter, two sons and two brothers preceded him in death.
