Pearson, Axel Magnus (5 Apr. 1909 - 5 June 1960)

Axel Magnus Pearson of Colby, Wisconsin died of a heart ailment at the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital Sunday night at the age of 51 years. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Lulloff Funeral Home, Rev. V. O. Grosshuesch officiating, and burial was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Pall bearers were Merlin Mageland, L. O. Jacobson, Tim Jacobson, all nephews, Ellerd Havelin, a brother-in-law, Melvin Bergum, Mrs. Pearson’s brother, and Frank Hunt.

Mr. Pearson was born in Sweden on April 5, 1909, and came to the United States as a youth. He was educated in Duluth, Minn., and after living in Milwaukee four years, he moved onto a farm near Owen in 1948. He came to Colby in 1956 and operated the Stratford Filling Station and lunch room on Highway 13. He was a member of the Sons of Norway. He was married in Milwaukee on April 22, 1944, to Marie Bergum.

Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Ardell (Joyce) Brown of Milwaukee and Christine at home; a step daughter, Mrs. Larry (Bernetta) Petruzates; six grand children; two brothers, Evert of Milwaukee and Gust of Duluth, Minn.; a sister, Mrs. Arthur (Mary) Kupsyznski of Duluth; his step mother, Mrs. Maurity Pearson of Duluth. An infant son and a step brother preceded him in death.

Mr. Pearson won many friends since he came to Colby through his friendly ways and accommodating disposition. He will be sadly missed by many.
