Schneider, Dolores Maria (Marriage - 31 Oct. 1959)

The wedding of Miss Dolores Maria Schneider, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Schneider of Colby, and Alfred John Pophal of Wausau, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Pophal of Wausau, took place in Zion Lutheran church at Colby Saturday afternoon, Rev. William R. Christian reading the marriage ceremony. Mrs. Howard Rannow played and sang "The Lord’s Prayer" and "The Wedding Prayer."

Bouquets of flowers decorated the church altar as Miss Schneider came before it on the arm of her father. Her floor-length gown of silk organza over taffeta was styled with a fitted bodice with a V neckline trimmed with iridescent sequins and long tapered sleeves. The full gathered skirt was detailed with lace and pleated inserts. Her silk illusion veil fell from a pearl crown and she carried a cascade bouquet of red roses, white carnations and lily of the valley.

Bridal attendants were Miss Ila Schneider, Chicago, Ill., as maid of honor, and Miss Gladys Schneider of Colby as bridesmaid. Their dresses were in ballerina-length taffeta of copper-glow and gold color, with square necklines and brief sleeves above bouffant skirts with a bustle effect in the back. Matching velveray headpieces with face veils and colonial bouquets of bronze and yellow pompoms with white satin trim completed their attire.

Robert Pakel of Wausau was best man to the groom. Edward Fenhaus of Wausau was groomsman. Ushers were Robert Wiersig and Donald Thompson.

Dinner was served at the parish hall and a reception and dance were held at Cherokee Hall.

Mrs. Pophal is a graduate of Colby High School and she and her husband are employed at the Marathon Electric Corp. in Wausau. On returning from a wedding trip through the Dakotas they will live at 718 Jackson St., Wausau.
