Rosemarie J. Grajec, age 67, of Manitowoc died Saturday morning, December 13, 2008, at the Manitowoc Health and Rehabilitation Center of Manitowoc after a one-month battle with cancer.

The former Rosemarie Tadych was born May 23, 1941 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Paul and Marie (Close) Tadych. She grew up in Manitowoc and was a 1959 graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School. On June 27, 1959 Rosemarie was married to Richard R. Grajek at St. Paul Catholic Church in Manitowoc.

In the past Rosemarie had worked for Silver Lake College until illness forced her to retire. In May of 1989, she received the gift of life through a liver transplant which added 19 years to her life. Rosemarie was so very grateful to the mother of whose son’s organs were donated so others may live. Until recently, Rosemarie was on a waiting list for a kidney transplant. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic community.

Survivors include her husband, Richard R. Grajek of Manitowoc; one son and daughter-in-law, Anthony (Lisa) Grajek of Manitowoc; two daughters and one son-in-law: Susan (John) Dondlinger of Manitowoc and Shelly Moffatt of Green Bay; six grandchildren: Joe and Tony Dondlinger, Jesse and Zachary Moffatt, and Richie and Jennifer Grajek; one brother, Paul Tadych of Cedar Grove; one sister-in-law and one brother-in-law: Carol Pawlicki of Thorp and Leonard Grajek of West Allis. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Anton and Anna Grajeck; one sister-in-law, Marilyn Tadych; one brother-in-law, Ray Pawlicki.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 20, 208 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Community, 8100 Brunner Road, Newton. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Gerald Foley with burial of her cremated remains in the parish cemetery at a later date. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name.

The Jens Family Funeral Home and Crematory of Manitowoc are serving the Grajek family.

A special thank you to the nurses at Holy Family Memorial Medical Dialysis Center on Reed Avenue for their loving care these past 1 ½ years.
