Fitzmaurice, Kada (11 Nov. 1941 - 8 Jan. 2009)

Kada Fitzmaurice, 67, of Humbird, died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009, at the Black River Memorial Hospital under the care of Black River Hospice.

A memorial service will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009, at the Town Hall in Humbird, with a light lunch to follow.

She was born in Sparta on Nov. 11, 1941, to Robert Pickett and Betsy Hanssen (Preston). She grew up in Black River Falls, where she met and married Leroy J. Fitzmaurice Sr. on Aug. 31, 1960, in Iowa. They owned and operated Lee & Kada's Bar in Humbird for 10 years.

She is survived by two daughters, Kada (Randy) Peterson of Woodland, Wash., and Emma (John) Calkins of Humbird; a son, Leroy J. Fitzmaurice Jr. of Humbird; foster children, LaVerda Vrichttr, Jouita Orozco and Ritchie Brown; stepmother, Jean Pickett; seven sisters, Punky (Geraldine) Hansen, Sigred (Leonard) Wells, Kaye (Dale) Butler, Crystal (Louie) Wells, Linda Ferno, Kaye Mooney and Peggie (Pete) Christain; one brother, David (Julie) Henssen; sister-in-law, Velva (Jerry) Cernik, and brother-in-law, Larry (Sharon) Fitzmaurice; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The family asks to please not send any flowers.
