Buddinger, William C. "Whitey" (20 May 1929 - 28 November 2008)

William C. "Whitey" Buddinger, 79, of Neillsville died Friday, Nov. 28, 2008, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.

William was born May 20, 1929, in Chicago, IL, the son of William Sr. and Katherine (Geisler) Buddinger. As a young child, his family moved to the Town of York in Clark County and farmed. Later they moved to what would become the family farm in the Town of Washburn just off of STH 73. He was united in marriage to Joan Bates July 17, 1954, at the Methodist Church in Merrillan. Eventually, they took over the operation of the family farm in the Town of Washburn. After their retirement, they continued to live on the farm.

He is survived by one daughter, Patricia (Jim) Seehafer of Marshfield; a granddaughter, Marcy (Brian) Kunze of Neillsville and their children, Jacob and Katie; a grandson, Paul (Shelley) Opelt of Neillsville and their children, Jessica (Kent) Fitzl, Marshall and Carson; and a brother, Wilbur Buddinger of Granton.

William was preceded in death by his wife, Joan, and his parents.

Funeral services for William were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. Pastor Meg Erickson officiated. Providing music were Eileen Zank, organist, and Mya Rowe, vocalist. Burial was in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Serving as Casketbearers were Kenny Friemoth, Arnie Huth, Dennis Huth, Duane Huth, Roger Huth and Steve Opelt.

The Gesche Funeral Home of Neillsville assisted William’s family with arrangements.
