Bauer, William A. (29 Aug. 1890 - 30 May 1958)

William A. Bauer died Friday morning at 1:15, of a heart attack, at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Bergner, Mishicot, Mich., where he and his wife had been visiting. The body is reposing in state at the Lulloff Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Monday morning in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Rev. John B. Pinion officiating, and burial was made in the Loyal Cemetery.

The Christian Mothers held a rosary Saturday night and the Holy Name Society Sunday night at the Lulloff Funeral Home where the body had been reposing. Two grand sons and four nephews were pall bearers - Robert Hollman, James Bergner, Maynard Bauer, Leo Schefschik, Francis Schefchik and Richard Schefchik.

Mr. Bauer was born at Hewitt on August 29, 1890, and was married in Loyal on June 16, 1915. They farmed in the Colby area from 1934 until 1942 and then moved to the city of Colby where Mr. Bauer became custodian at Colby High School. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and of the Holy Name Society. He attended the graduation exercises of his grand son, Jim Bergner, a few hours before his sudden death.

Surviving are his wife and the following children: Frank of Los Angeles, Calif.; Albert of Rockford, Ill.; William of Weyauwega; Mrs. Frank (Margaret) Hollman of Milwaukee; Mrs. Woodrow (Julia) Bergner of Mischicot, Mich.; Mrs. Ervin (Regina) Merkel of Cudahy and Mrs. Gilbert (Marie) Jastrow of South Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Also surviving are 23 grandchildren; three brothers, George of Wisconsin Rapids, Nick of Spencer and Joseph of Cadott; five sisters, Mrs. Lester (Christina) Sook of Fond du Lac, Mrs. Angeline DuVall of Marshfield, Mrs. Albert (Eva) Roidt of Spencer; Mrs. Elliot (Katie) Hebert of Chili, Mrs. Jospeh (Celie) Charlton of Abbotsford, Wis. Two brothers, Martin and Peter, and a sister, Anna Schuld, preceded him in death. Mr. Bauer was well known for his fine Christian character and congenial disposition and his many friends, who were sorry to hear of his sudden death, will miss his friendly and kindly greetings.

Out of town relatives and friends here for the funeral were from Mishicot, Mich., Los Angeles, Calif., Rockford, Ill., Milwaukee, Wisconsin Rapids, Marshfield, Spencer, Loyal, Beaver Dam, Fond du Lac, Kewanee, Cadott, Cudahy and Abbotsford, Wis.
