Zinthefer, Aloys ( Aug 1, 1966)

After serving in the active ministry for more than 48 years, Father Aloys Zinthefer will retire on August 1.

Father Zinthefer is presently pastor of St. Peter’s parish at Middle Ridge where he has served since August of 1950.

He will take up residence at 208 North Walnut Avenue in Marshfield. Father will offer daily Mass at St. John’s Convent and after a summer vacation will assist in various parishes on Sundays.

Born in Hewett on March 8, 1892, he attended St. Michael’s grade school and then school at Mount Calvary before entering St. Francis major Seminary in Milwaukee.

He was ordained by Archbishop Sebastian G. Messmer at St, Francis Seminary on June 16, 1918. Father’s first appointment took him to St. John’s parish in Marshfield where he served as assistant pastor until June of 1924 when he was assigned to St. Kilian’s parish in Blenker (Sherry).

In September of 1932 he became pastor of St. Joseph’s parish in Avoca with the missions at Clyde. This parish became a part of the newly created Madison Diocese in 1946. In January of 1938 Father assumed the pastorate at St. Anthony’s in Loyal, remaining there for over 12 years.

On August 9, 1950, he became pastor at Middle Ridge, serving there up to the present time.
