Mills, Rev. Oren (High Point, N.C. - 1970)

Henry F. harder, Manitowoc, visited recently with a boyhood schoolmate from the Christie area, the Rev. Oren Mills, who now lives in High Point, North Carolina.

Harder, an employee of the A & P Company was in High Point supervising the opening of a subsidiary White house milk plant. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Harder of Christie.

The Rev. Mr. Mills, who served at one time as pastor of the First Baptist Church of Black River Falls, is well-known in and around Neillsville. His brothers, Calvin and Lee, still live her, as well as his sister, Laura, Mrs. William Genteman. Another sister, Jessie, Mrs. Alfred Foemmel, has moved to Marshfield.

Currently, the Rev. Mr. Mills has added an extra dimension to his position of director of religious activities at New Life Home. He has become pastor of a new chapel, the first of its kind in High Point, designed especially to serve persons with drinking problems.

Located in a former retail store building, the new facility is called the New Life Homes Chapel. In addition to a Sunday worship schedule similar to many churches, the chapel will also be used for Monday evening services and for worship following Wednesday and Friday Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. The chapel has been planned to be a key phase in the New Life Homes’ program of helping men return once again to normal, productive lives in modern day society.
