Roenz, Gwen Ilene (23 May 1947 - 12 November 2008)

Gwen Roenz, 61, of Neillsville died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.

Gwen Ilene Roenz was born May 23, 1947, in New London, the daughter of Hubert and Beverly (Thurston) Tohm. She attended and graduated from Manawa High School in 1965 and then worked in Oshkosh for five years as a supervisor of a television manufacturing company. She was united in marriage to John "Jack" Roenz Dec. 5, 1970, in Manawa. They lived for a year in Kaukauna and then moved to Neillsville, where they have lived ever since. While living in Neillsville, Gwen raised her family and provided home daycare for area families.

She was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church in Neillsville, a church council member and a member of the church choir.

Gwen is survived by her husband, John "Jack" Roenz; a daughter, Amy (Shane) Seif of Cottage Grove, MN; a son, Matt (Jennifer) Roenz of Neillsville; grandchildren, Katie, Molly and Lindsey Seif and Hunter, Marshall and Mason Roenz. Gwen is also survived by her mother, Beverly (Harold) Walbruck of Weyauwega; a brother, William "Bill" (Barbara) Tohm of Manawa; her best friend/"sister," Mary Sue Roenz of Manawa; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Hubert; her mother-and-father-in-law, Marvin and Averill Roenz; and a brother-in-law, John Raffin.

Funeral services for Gwen were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 17, 2008, at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Neillsville, Pastor James Gordon officiated. Music was provided by Jodi Rueth, organist, Wendell Attoe, soloist, and the Calvary Lutheran Church Choir. Interment was in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Visitation was from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., Sunday at the Gesche Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Monday at the church.

Casketbearers were: Jason Klotzbuecher, Peter Klotzbuecher, Danny Roenz, Eric Sunsdahl, Bill Tohm, Christopher Tohm and Don Tohm.

The Gesche Funeral Home assisted Gwen’s family with funeral arrangements.
