Olson, Jean A. (Marriage - 30 Nov. 1957)

Miss Jean A. Olson of Wausau, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Olson of Abbotsford, and Herbert A. Schilling, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Schilling of Colby, Wisconsin were united in marriage at a 12:45 P.M. ceremony in St. Peter’s Lutheran parsonage in Dorchester Saturday, Rev. F. H. Sprengler officiating at the ceremony.

Cousins of the bride, Mr. and Mrs. Neil Obey of Wausau, were asked to be groomsman and bridesmaid. Miss Shirley Busse of Wausau did duties as maid of honor and was escorted by Galen Olson of Wausau, brother of the bride. Gowns of blue and shrimp colored lace over taffeta and fashioned with cover-up jackets over strapless bodices were chosen by the attendants. Full ruffled skirts were of net with lace half-skirts coming to points at the sides. Narrow headbands of net and bouquets of yellow, gold and bronze pompoms completed their attire.

For her wedding gown, Miss Olson selected a floor-length gown of tulle and shadow lace. A lace-accented Queen Anne collar and snug fitting bodice with tapered sleeves coming to points at the wrists, topped the bouffant skirt designed with alternate flounces of lace and tulle. A tiered crown of rhinestones and pearls held a cascading illusion veil. Her bridal bouquet was comprised of red roses and white pompoms.

Mrs. Olson and Mrs. Schilling, mothers of the young couple, viewed the wedding in gowns of black and navy with white accessories. Corsages of red roses and white carnations were pinned at the shoulderline.

Out of town guests from Abbotsford, Wausau, Mosinee, Fenwood, Dorchester, Colby, Stratford, Stetsonville, Edgar, and Milwaukee were greeted at a reception at the home of the bride’s parents followed by supper at the Sky Lite Club. A dance at the Trianon Ballroom ended the festivities.

The new Mrs. Schilling received her education in Abbotsford schools while her husband attended Colby schools. They are both employed at Marathon Electric Mfg. Co., Wausau, and will reside on the groom’s farm near Unity, Wis.
