Nipko, Eileen Marie (Marriage - 5 Oct. 1957)

Miss Eileen Marie Nipko of Unity, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Nipko, and Grant A. Smart of Colby, son of Charles Smart, were united in marriage in a 1:30 P.M. ceremony Saturday in the Unity Methodist church before Dr. Roger Knutson.

Mrs. Merton Reckner, sister of the groom, was attired in a blue taffeta with fitted bodice and full skirt of net tiers over taffeta accented by her cascade bouquet of pink and white carnations, when she served as matron of honor. Two cousins, Miss Carole Rickert of Marshfield, and Miss Kathleen Moore of Waukesha, were bridesmaids. They wore pink gowns of taffeta and net and carried cascade bouquets of pink and white carnations.

A brother-in-law, Merton Reckner of Colby, attended the groom as best man. The bride’s brother, James Nipko of Unity, and Norman Mienke of Colby, Wisconsin were groomsmen. Ushers were Donald Smart, a cousin of the groom, and Peter Zeigler of Stratford.

For her wedding Miss Nipko chose a gown of rose point lace and net styled with net paneled skirt over satin, with a lace nipped-in bodice. Her cascade bouquet contained red roses, stephanotis and feathered carnations.

Before a western honeymoon, the bridal couple greeted friends at a reception at the bride’s home and at supper in the church parlors. The bride attended Colby schools and the groom is a University of Wisconsin graduate and employed at Wipli, Ulrich & Co., Wausau.
