Bjorn, Rachel (10 APR 1948)

Miss Rachel Bjorn, daughter of Mrs. Sophie Bjorn, Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), became the bride of Joseph V. Wenta, son of Mrs. Agnes E. Spaw of Noel, Mo., at a nuptial ceremony performed in the chapel at the United States Naval Training Station at Great Lakes, Ill., Wednesday, April 10th, 1948; the double ring nuptial service was officiated at by Chaplain B. F. Hughes.

The bride chose for the sacred occasion a gown of white satin with a fingertip veil and carried a bouquet of red roses, and was given in marriage by her brother-in-law, Martin Mannisto of Waukegan, Ill. Attending her as matron of honor was Mrs. Henry Hepniewicki, who wore a gown of pink marquisette and carried a bouquet of pink and white carnations.

Attending the bridegroom as best man Ernest McCorkle, both of whom were dressed in naval uniform.

Immediately following the ceremony a wedding dinner was served to immediate members of the couple’s families and relatives at the Blue Star Restaurant in North Chicago.

The bride is a graduate of Owen High School with the class of 1946 and has been employed for the past year and one half at the First National Bank of Lake Forest, Ill.

The bridegroom is a graduate of Manuel High School and Vocational School at Kansas City, Mo.; with the class of 1941, and is now an electronics instructor at the U.S. Naval Training Station at Great Lakes, Ill.

The newlyweds visited Noel, Mo. and Owen, Wis. on their honeymoon and plan to make their home in Waukegan, Ill.
