Hugoboom, Emma M. (23 May 1882 - 5 May 1934)

Mrs. R. W. Hugoboom, wife of the editor of the Dorchester Clarion, passed away at the Medford Clinic Saturday noon May 5th. She had been ill about a week with influenza, which with complications caused her death.

Emma M. Vaugness was born May 23, 1882, near Kindred, N.D., and was 51 years of age at the time of her death. She came to Wisconsin in 1889 and taught in the Dorchester schools from 1900 to 1902.

On January 4, 1903, she was married to R. W. Hugoboom, at Thorp, and for sixteen years have made their home at Dorchester, Wis. Four children blessed this union, one son having preceded her in death.

Mrs. Hugoboom was always active in community, church and school work, and also assisted her husband in the editing of the paper. She was known and loved by scores of people who will miss her kindly spirit and who find words infinitely inadequate to express the keen sense of loss and sympathy for the bereaved family.

Funeral services were held at the home at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Rev. Ervin Ade of Berlin and Rev. R. Griepp of Milan, officiating. Internment took placee in the Memorial Cemetery at Dorchester, Wis.

Surviving relatives include her husband, two daughters, Ardath of Berlin and June at home; and one son, R. Wayne of Madison; and the following brothers and sisters, O. B. Vauganess, Baltimore, Md.; T. B. Vaugness, Dike, Sask., Canada; O. C. Vauganess, Saxonia, Mich.; G. A. Vaugeness, Villa Park, Ill.; and Miss Bert Vaugness of Dorchester, Wis.
