Roscoe, Jennie (30 JUL 1876 - NOV 1943)

Mrs. Jennie Roscoe, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Albert Welsh, will be remembered by many here; therefore, we are reprinting her obituary as it appeared in the Rathdrum (Ida.) Tribune.

Funeral services for Mrs. Jennie Roscoe, 67, whose death occurred in Spokane, Nov. 15, were held in the Cassedy chapel here last Saturday afternoon, the Rev. A. L. McConnell, local pastor of the Methodist church, officiating. The body was taken to Spokane the same day for cremation.

Besides the surviving husband and three children, relatives in attendance at the funeral included her two brothers, R. H. Welsh and Albion Welsh from Montana; Frank Welsh, a nephew, from Portland, Ore., and Harvey Scammon from Colville, Wash.

Jennie Medora Welsh was born in Loyal, Wis., July 30, 1876. She was married to James M. Roscoe in 1897. They came west with their two small sons, Forrest and Clinton, to the state of Washington in 1904 and moved to Rathdrum in February 1906. Here their daughter, Hazel, was born and they lived in Rathdrum until the fall of that year.

They homesteaded at Wibaux, Mont., and after 13 years returned to Rathdrum in 1919, making this their home ever since.

Mrs. Roscoe is survived by her husband, James M. Roscoe, in Rathdrum; two sons, Forrest L. Roscoe, at Almira, Wash., and Clinton P. Roscoe, at Dishman, Wash., and one daughter, Mrs. Hazel Vess, of Sandpoint, Ida.; eight grandchildren; also four brothers, Burton, Albion and Raleigh Welsh at Wibaux, Mont., and Fred Welsh at Multonomah, Ore., and two sisters, Mrs. Kit Jones of Opportunity, Wash., and Mrs. Ruth Hilt of Marshfield, Wis.
