Piquet, Joseph P. (16 APR 1860 - 12 OCT 1943)

Joseph P. Piquet was born Apr. 16, 1860, near Dubuque, Ia., and passed away at St. Joseph’s hospital in Marshfield on Oct. 13, at the age of 83 years, five months and 27 days. He spent most of his life in Iowa, moving to Wisconsin in 1927.

Mr. Piquet was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Bloom on Aug. 12, 1882. She preceded him in death on July 3, 1930. To this union five children were born, one of them dying in infancy.

The children who survive him are the following: Desmond P. and Harrison T. Piqyet of Warrens, Mrs. Morison Goodell of Abbotsford and Mrs. George Litten, who lives north of Loyal, with whom for a number of years the deceased made his home.

In addition to the members of the immediate family, he leaves 13 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many friends, who will cherish his memory.

Mr. Piquet spent most of his days on the farm, where he developed a strong body, which kept him in good health until the closing days of his life.

In earlier years of their married life both Mr. and Mrs. Piquet were active members of the Methodist church.

The funeral was held in the Loyal Methodist church at 2 p.m. Friday Oct. 15, the Rev. Myron E. Taylor officiating. Burial was in the Beaver cemetery.

Those who served as pallbearers were Frank Kline, Gus Piekola, Joe Shefchik, Charles Shefchik, Stoughton Hallowell and Joe Pachal.

Those from out of town who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Desmond Piquet and son and Harrison Piquet of Warrens, Mrs. Marjorie Goodell of Abbotsford, Mr. and Mrs. Kermit Noth of Stratford, Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Belknap of Wisconsin Rapids, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Piquet and son of Dancy, Mrs. Anna Piquet and son and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Young and son of Auburndale, and Mr. and Mrs. Everett Goodell of Spencer.

The Tribune extends its sympathy to the bereaved.
