Liazuk, Pearl M. (3 November 1913 - 13 October 2008)

Pearl M. Liazuk, age 94, long-time Stanley resident, died Monday, October 13, 2008, at the Chippewa Manor. She was born on November 3, 1913, in Lena, IL, the daughter of the late Henry and Caroline (Paul) Nichols. As a young girl, she moved to the Wisconsin Dells area and later to Gilman, where she grew up and attended area schools. She was united in marriage to Walter Liazuk on May 26, 1936, in Medford. The couple lived in Gilman and Thorp before moving to Stanley in 1956, where they owned and operated Liazuk’s Bar & Café for many years. Pearl later worked as a nurse’s aide for Victory Memorial Hospital in Stanley. She was a long-time member of Holy Family Catholic Church.

She survived by her children: Dean of Eau Clarie, Darlene (Dale) Tieman of Wausaukee, Wanda Tramm of Staples, MN, Duane (Barbara) of Fond du Lac, Dale (Suzanne) Oconomowoc, Dae (Richard) Jacobson of Stanley; 17 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by one son-in-law, Alois Olichwier of Bloomer, many nieces and nephews and a special friend, Gladys Lund.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband (2001); one daughter, Marilyn Olichwier (2007); one brother, Charles Nichols; and one sister, Goldene Hartzell.

Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2008, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Stanley. Father Robert Nelson officiated. Burial followed at the Meadowbrook Cemetery in Gilman. Friends called from 5 until 8 p.m. on Friday at the Plombon Funeral Home in Stanley with a 7:30 p.m. Rosary service.
