Hazen, Helen (1871? - 11 JUL 1947)

Funeral services for Mrs. Helen Hazen, 76, were held in Stanley Monday, July 14, who died July 11, 1947 at the home of her son, Edward Potter, Lancaster, Ohio.

She is survived by six sons: Bert Potter, Tacoma, Wash.; Robert, Metalane Falls, Wash.; Edward, Lancaster, Ohio; Markus, Menasha, Eugene, Berwyn, Ill.; and Marion, Owen; two daughters, Mrs. Eva Soli, L’Anse, Mich., and Mrs. Ruth McCann, Arlington, Va., 23 grandchildren, among them, Mrs. Harold Kuehn, Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), 12 great-grandchildren, among them, Susan and ruth Anne Kuehn. A son, Roy Potter, preceded her in death.

A member of St. Katherine’s Episcopal Church, Mrs. Hazen had been a charter member of the Guild. She had been a resident of Owen for about 12 years, having owned and operated a restaurant here after her arrival from Stanley.

Known throughout the city, she is mourned here by many close friends. Ill for the past two years, and for periods confined to bed, she was still very active. As a grandmother of 75, she made her first plane trip. She had gone to Lancaster two months ago, planning a visit to her daughter in Arlington on Aug. 1. Her death was unexpected and very sudden.
