Karl, Mancie "Amber" (4 October 1918 - 16 October 2008)

Mancie "Amber" Karl, 90, of Neillsville, died Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008, at her home.

Amber was born Oct. 4, 1918, in Clark County, the daughter of Percy and Mabel (Gault) Northup. She attended school at Happy Hollow and graduated from Neillsville High School in 1938. She worked at the County Farm and did housework in Neillsville before marrying Clifford Karl Sept. 3, 1946, in Marshfield. Amber became a housewife who enjoyed baking, cooking and sewing for her family and loved flowers and working in her vegetable garden.

She was a member of the United Church of Christ where she had taught Sunday school and actively participated in their sewing circle and other activities.

Amber is survived by her sons, Robert of Neillsville and Wayne of Stoughton; a daughter, Linda Aslakson, New Glarus; and her only very special grandchild, Elizabeth Aslakson of New Glarus. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Clifford and her brother, Raymond Northup.

Funeral services for Amber were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2008, at the United Church of Christ in Neillsville. Pastor James Mohr officiated. Music was provided by Eileen Zank, organist and Corrine Armitage, soloist. Interment was in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Casket bearers were Gene Jepsen, Ivan Karl, Mike Karl, Russell Karl, Walter Karl and Merlyn Kroll.

The Gesche Funeral Home assisted Amber’s family with funeral arrangements.
