Kronberger, Ivan D. (14 July 1926 - 27 Sept. 2008)

Ivan D. "Van" Kronberger, 82, Marshfield, Wisconsin, died on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008, at Mount View Care Center, Wausau.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008, at St. John's Catholic Church, Marshfield. The Rev. Charles Stoetzel will officiate and Suzanne Golden will be the organist for St. John's Church Funeral Choir.

Burial will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 54. The visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Rembs Funeral Home, and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Thursday at St. John's Church. A combined St. John's Parish and Knights of Columbus Rosary Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

He was born on July 14, 1926, in the town of Loyal to Leonard "Leo" and Lulu (Benedict) Kronberger. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II. After his honorable discharge he became employed at Pritzl Hardware Store in Marshfield from 1948 until 1990. He married Helen T. Hartung on Oct. 2, 1948, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Neillsville.

He is survived by his wife, Helen; and their children, Leonard Kronberger of Oak Park, Mich., Mary (Brian) Teabo of Sacramento, Calif., James Kronberger of Marshfield, Linda (Kevin) Peterson of Columbia, Mo., Jeffrey (Rita) Kronberger of Milan, Mo., Cheryl (Ed) Skwierczynski of Stratford, and Cynthia Kronberger of Marshfield. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is further survived by his siblings, Dorethy Prior of Loyal, Betty Pabish of Austin, Texas, Wayne (Ruth) Kronenberger of Neillsville and Jean Lavey of Nekoosa.

He was predeceased by his parents; two children, John and Joseph Kronberger; and a brother, Jerry Kronberger.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be designated in his name to St. John the Baptist Church window restoration fund.
