Peterson, Gust #2 (22 APR 1880 - 20 MAR 1947)

Death came suddenly this morning to Gust Peterson, 65, a patient at St. Joseph’s Hospital where he had been hospitalized since Tuesday afternoon when he suffered a stroke, when he fell at his farm home at Frenchtown.

Several days ago he had received his tickets and passport enabling him to take a trip to his native Sweden. He had planned on leaving on his trip next week and earlier Tuesday forenoon had been in Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) and bid some of his friends goodbye.

No funeral arrangements have been completed as yet.

Funeral service were conducted for Gust Peterson by Rev. L. C. Bundgaard of Withee, on Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Griebenow Funeral Home (Owen, Wisconsin) with interment in Riverside Cemetery. He passed away at 6 o’clock on the morning of March 20th, 1947, at the age of 66 years.

Mr. Peterson was born on April 22, 1880 in Sweden. He came to this county in 1903 and resided at Rock Island, Ill., and in Ladysmith, before settling on his farm 2 ½ miles northwest of Withee in 1925.

His wife, Cecilia, who he married on July 10, 1913, preceded him in death on June 17, 1940. He leaves to mourn his passing three sons, John, Henry and Richard, and one daughter, Mrs. Fred (Frances) Sorenson, besides a sister and two brothers who reside in Glidden.

Pallbearers were Tom Miller, Hans Hanson, Howard Watson, Rudolph Borgeson, Arnold Rasmussen, and Art Lelos.

Flowers girls were Mrs. Sig Sorenson, Shirley Sorenson, Helen Hansen, Lorraine Watson, Mrs. Grant Anderson and Mrs. Arnold Rasmussen.
