Counsell, Doris (Marriage - 2 July 1949)

Miss Doris Counsell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarion Counsell of Neillsville, became the bride of Harold Osborn, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Osborn of Bethesda, Md., on Saturday, July 2, 1949, at 3 p.m. The vows were said in the Methodist Church before an altar banked with white gladioli and fern. The Rev. Virgil Nulton performed the double ring ceremony.

The bride chose as a white embroidered organdie gown, with a fitted bodice and full skirt. A fingertip veil of bridal illusion edged in lace and matching mitts completed her costume. She carried a spray bouquet of pink roses and gardenias.

Her matron of honor was her sister, Mrs. Victor Pagenkopf of Beloit. She wore white frosted organdie with a pastel blue sash. Mary Osborn, the groom’s sister, and Mrs. Douglas Swacina served as bridesmaids. They were both dressed in white organdie with pastel green and pink sashes. They are carried basket bouquets with pink carnations and trailing ivy.

The groom’s friend, Douglas Sherman of Alpena, Mich., served as best man; and Kenneth Krohn of Shawano and Bruce Rosnes of Park Ridge, Ill., attended.

Dr. Dwight Agnew of Stout Institute sang two selections, accompanied at the piano by the bride’s brother, Dr. Lee Counsell. Dr. Counsell also played the prelude and the wedding march.

A reception for 75 persons was held in the church basement immediately following the ceremony. The young couple left on a honeymoon in northern Wisconsin.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Osborn are graduates of Stout Institute with the class of 1949. Mrs. Osborn is a member of the Phi Upsilon Omicron, a national honorary professional home economics fraternity, and of the Pallas Antheme social society. Mr. Osborn belongs to the Epsilon Pi Tau fraternity, an international honorary professional fraternity in education and vocational education, and he is also a member of Sigma Tau Gamma, a national social fraternity.

Out-of-town guests present for the wedding were: Mr. and Mrs. Robert Osborn, Bethesda, Md.; Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Rosnes, Park Ridge, Ill.; Mrs. Gene Sherman, Alpena, Mich.; Miss Maxine Pence and Murnice Dallman, Spring Valley; Miss Maxine Wertz and Arnie Feiler, Elmwood; Miss Rose Mary Obert and Miss Jean Windsor of Eau Claire; Herman Barnhardt, Menomonie; Miss Betty Dengel, Rockland; Douglas Swacina, Madison; Mr. and Mrs. Leander Olia and family, Osseo; and Mrs. Laurence Junchen, Sherrod, Ill.
