Wilcox, Bert Warren (4 March 1867 - 9 October 1948)

Funeral services for Bert Warren Wilcox, 81, well-known Greenwood resident, were held from Grace Methodist Church at Greenwood at 2 p.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. Lee H. Holmes in charge. Burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Mr. Wilcox died Saturday, October 9, (1948) in an Eau Claire hospital, where he had been confined for the last three weeks as a surgical patient.

Born March 4, 1867, in Richmond, McHenry County, Ill., he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Wilcox. He was married December 24, 1885, to Hesper L. Bigelow in Woodstock, Ill., where they made their home until moving into Clark County in 1911.

The Wilcox family first settled on a farm in the Tioga country, and in 1917 moved to Greenwood. While living on the farm, Mr. Wilcox served for a time as assessor of the Town of Hendren.

Surviving are five sons and three daughters: Clarence W. of Highland; Waite L, of Denver, Colo.; James M. of Randolph, N.Y.; Clark L. of Delevan; Homer C. of Cattaraugus, N. Y.; Mrs. Amil (Maude) Seimer of Elgin, Ill.; Mrs. Forrest (Pearl) Chadwick of Conewango, N. Y.; and Mrs. Floyd (Helen) Christie of Owen. Also surviving are two brothers, Clarence and Alfred Wilcox, both of Marengo, Ill., 36 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
