William Bereza was born on April 3, 1915, in Chicago, IL to Anton and Paranka (Krasota) Bereza. As a young boy, his family moved to Lublin, where William was raised on a farm and received his education. William worked in the CCC Camps for a few years before his induction into the U. S. Army on February 21, 1941. He served overseas during WWII until his honorable discharge on July 3, 1945. William returned to Chicago and worked in a salvage yard for a short time before moving back to Lublin and working on the family farm. He was untied in marriage to Mary Makowski on September 5, 1953 in Lublin, WI. They farmed and raised their family on his family’s farm. He was always willing to help his neighbors get their crops off the fields. During the 1960’s, he plowed snow for the Town of Roosevelt, and during the 1970’s, installed oil furnaces for Montgomery Wards in Thorp. He resided at home on the farm, until entering the nursing home in November of 2007.

William was a member of the Lublin American Legion and had many interests, but especially loved fishing, hunting, gardening, photography, mechanics, and his orchard.

He is survived by four children: William Bereza of Battle Creek, MI, Marcella (Frank) Czahor of Gilman, Peter Bereza of Moreno Valley, CA, and Jane (Greg) Kline of Apple Valley, MN; three grandchildren: Paula Czahor, Vincent Czahor, and Thomas Bereza; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary, on September 14, 1995; two sisters: Rose Fleck and Marie Prose; and two brothers: Mike Birch and John Bereza.
