Thede, Alex (13 Mar. 1888 - 13 Aug. 1956)

Alex Thede of Abbotsford, formerly of this community, died at 8:45 Monday night at the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital at the age of 68 years, a cerebral hemorrhage being the cause of his death. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:00 P.M. at the First Evangelical and Reformed church in Colby, Wis., Rev. V. O. Grosshuesch officiating, and internment will be made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. The body is now lying in state at the Lulloff Funeral Home.

Mr. Thede was born on March 13, 1888, in New Holstein, where he resided until 1912, when he moved to the town of Colby and engaged in farming. Eight years ago, he retired and moved to Abbotsford, Wis. He was united in marriage to Adelia Schmidt at New Holstein on September 5, 1911.

Surviving are his widow; one daughter, Mrs. Hal (Adeline) Harding, of Marshfield; a grand daughter, Janice Harding, of Marshfield; one sister, Mrs. Paul (Luella) Langenegger, of Alma. His parents, three sisters and three brothers preceded him in death.

Mr. Thede was well known here as a good Christian with industrious habits, and, being of a friendly and kindly disposition, was well-liked by all who knew him.

Last rites for Alex Thede of Abbotsford, Wisconsin, who died August 13 at the age of 68, as chronicled last week, were conducted at the First Evangelical and Reformed church in Colby by Rev. V. O. Grosshuesch. Marvin Schnabel, accompanied at the organ by Miss Rena Bauer, sang, "In Thy Hour of Trial" and "Softly and Tenderly." Internment was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Pall bearers were LaRoy and Vilas Thede, Arthur Leichtnam, Robert Kreklau, Harold Schmidt and Glen Utschig.

Out-of-town people here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Hal Harding and daughter, Janice, of Marshfield, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Langeneger of Alma, Mr. and Mrs. George Geisler and Mrs. Laone Hagle of Milwaukee, Albert Utschig, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Blob, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Utschig and Mr. and Mrs. Reno Utschig of Appleton, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Schmidt of Denmark, Wis., Clifford and Bruno Bruckmeier of Green Bay, Mr. and Mrs. William Thede and Mr. and Mrs. Victor Seil of New Holstein, Mr. and Mrs. Elwood Hintz of Hilbert, Mr. and Mrs. William Ullrich, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Reinke of Wausau.
