Madler, John Fred (18 January 1877 - July 1948)

Funeral services for John Madler, former Town of Fremont resident, were held on Saturday afternoon from St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Chili. Burial was made in the cemetery at Chili.

Mr. Madler lost his life when he was struck by a train while crossing the track in Marshfield. Cause of the death was a severe skull fracture. He was 71.

John Fred Madler was born in Calumet County, January 18, 1877. He received his education in the Bakerville School and was married to Miss Ella Schmitz in the Town of Lynn on August 2, 1902.

He operated a farm in the Town of Fremont until four years ago when he moved to Spencer. After residing there for 2 ½ years he moved to Marshfield.

Surviving besides his wife are a son Harvey of Marshfield and three sisters, Mrs. Albert Marg, of Lynn; Mrs. Munce Eibergen of Marshfield and Mrs. Mary Schuster of Beloit. He was preceded in death by three sisters.
