Horn, Violet Lucille (Marriage - 26 June 1948)

St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church in Thorp was the scene June 26 (1948) of the wedding of Miss Violet Lucille Horn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Poppe of Greenwood, and LeRoy Anthony Wadzinski, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Wadzinski of Custer. Rev. Fr. Kaim performed the double ring ceremony against a background of palms and white peonies. The bride given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of sheer white muslin de sol, embroidered in orange blossoms with satin thread, with ruffles down the front skirt and around the eight-foot train; long pointed sleeves and round neck. Her scalloped fingertip veil was caught to an orange blossom crown. She carried a heart shaped bouquet of red roses centered in a white orchid.

Miss Carol Wadzinski, sister of the groom, was maid of honor, and the bridesmaids were Miss Inez Mertens of Withee, Helen Anderson, sister of the bride and Lorretta Belgram, sister of the groom. Herbert Horn, a cousin of the bride, served as best man and Marvin Belgram and Donald Wadzinski were the groom’s other attendants. Cheryl Resech, niece of the bride, was flower girl.

The 150 guests attended a reception after the ceremony at the home of the bride’s parents, which was decorated with garden flowers.

After a wedding trip to northern Wisconsin the couple will be at home in Custer, where the groom is connected with a creamery concern. The groom received his education at St. Francis Minor Seminary in Milwaukee, while the bride is a graduate of the Eau Claire State Teachers College, and has been teaching for the past three years.
