Clarence S. Monegar Jr., 74, St. Francis, Minn., died on Tuesday, June 19, 2008, at his home. A memorial service and interment with military honors have been held.

Charles S. Monegar Jr. was born in Tomah on Oct. 25, 1933. He attended schools in Black River Falls and Greenwood. He graduated from Greenwood High School in 1951, and joined the Navy in 1951. He received the National Defense Service Medal, issued by President Dwight D. Eisenhower, for serving during a time of national emergency (Korean Conflict). He served from 1951-56, and then served from 1956-59 in the Naval Reserve.

Survivors include his son, Alan, St. Francis, Minn.; two sisters, Mona (David) Garthune, Apple Valley, Minn., and Martha (Peter) Riola, Blaine, Minn.; and two brothers, Sidney Lewis, Willard, and Ervin Buker Jr., Willard.
