Deutsch, Edward #2 (29 SEP 1881 - 19 JUL 1904)

Ed Deutsch, second son of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Deutsch, was killed Tuesday at six o’clock in the evening by the kick of a colt, which he was endeavoring to catch. The colt, which belonged to the Luethe Company, for whom Ed worked, had got loose, with halter on and strap flying, and was in the street, in front of James Cannon’s residence, where Ed, assisted by Mr. Cannon, was trying to capture the young horse. Ed got close enough to reach for the end of the strap, which was dangerously near the frisky heels, when as he stooped over the colt gave a quick kick, striking Ed just above the heart, and he fell, life having departed with the blow.

Edward Frantz Deutsch was born at Neillsville (Clark Co., Wis.), Sept. 29, 1881. He attended school here, graduating June 8, 1900, a finished, bright student. He leaves, besides the father and mother, the sister Amelia, and brothers Gustav C. and Ferdinand G., Edward being the youngest.

Funeral arrangements await the coming of the brother Ferdinand from North Dakota, and will be held at the house or the Congregational Church.

Ed Deutsch was a model young man, honest, pleasant, industrious, ambitious; in all thing admirable. His death is a great and shocking loss to the community, and falls with crushing force upon the family
