Hess, Theresa (Schmid) (Aug 25, 1919 - Aug 2, 2008)

Theresa Hess, 88, Owen, formerly an Abbotsford area resident, died Saturday, August 2, 2008, at the Clark County Health Care Center, Owen, where she had resided for the past four months.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Thursday, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Abbotsford, Wis.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Abbotsford, Wis. Father Ben Franklin will preside. Burial will be in Dorchester Memorial Cemetery, Dorchester, Wis.

Pallbearers are grandchildren, Robert Erbach, Donald Hess, Christine Ingbretson, Steven Hess, Heather Hess, Kristopher Hess, Eric and Angela Tischendorf.

Theresa was born August 25, 1919, in the Town of Mayville, Dorchester and attended Dorchester Elementary School

She was married June 1, 1942 at Camp Bowie, TX in the company Catholic Chapel to Robert J. Hess. He preceded her in death on August 13, 2002.

They owned and operated an egg ranch in the Town of Colby for many years. She enjoyed gardening, dancing, sewing and cooking. She also belonged to various card clubs and was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Abbotsford, Wis. She also was a past member of St. Bernard’s Women’s Altar Society and the Library Club.

Theresa is survived by her children, Nancy (Albert) Erbach, Fond du Lac, Edward (Patricia) Hess, Butternut, Michael Hess, Mosinee, and Rita (Terry) Tischendorf, Medford; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one brother, Anselm III (Rowena) Schmid, Dorchester, Wis.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence and Edward Schmid; two sisters, Amelia Schneider and Irene Lewer; her father Anselm Schmid Jr., and her mother, Alice (Bushman).

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the family to be designated at a later date. Hemer Funeral Home of Medford is assisting the family with arrangements.
