SCHILLING STATION - Aug. 26

Carl Christopherson and his brother Ole have gone to Minneapolis to work.

A little shower of rain came Tuesday, but not enough to help the potato crop much.

G. Phillip was a caller at the home of Aug. Stabnaw in Beaver township a couple of hours Thursday.

E. R. Howells, a canvasser for Dr. Chase's receipt book, called to see us last Monday. He is from Ohio.

The weather has been very suitable this summer for clearing land and quite a number are taking advantage of it.

Ernest Vine is working on the railroad with his father's team for N. C. Foster on the branch leading north to the Eau Claire river.

Mike Hendrickson and Chas. Steenberg have fifty rods of turnpiking made on the town line road north of widow Hendrickson's farm.

Wm. Rossow is amusing himself these days cutting stove wood. He is getting a nice clearing and ere long will have a nice farm.

Henry Grass has rented Albert Stabnaw's farm another year. Albert intends to dispose of his sheep and put cows on the farm in their stead.

The farmers that have threshed say that oats are light in weight this year owing to the heavy wind recently blowing them down to the ground which stopped them from filling properly.

A. Gustafson is stretching out his clearing by clearing and burning at the same time. He will have a farm shortly that will improve the appearance of Schilling Station.

A goodly number visited Mrs. Ernest Vine a week ago Tuesday, it being her birthday. A grand time was had and several beautiful presents were bestowed upon her. Among the number there were Wm. Nutting and wife of Loyal.

The town board of supervisors met at the school house in the Larson district a week ago Saturday and set off the south half of the north half of section 24, town 27, range 2 west to become a part of the Larson school district in the future. That is half the territory the Larson district applied for, but every little (bit?) helps.
